Kwinana’s 2nd Grade team have started 2019 with a win over the league leaders as One-Day Gs also get off to a great start.

Kwinana elected to bat first in their 2nd Grade match against Armadale.

Kurt Verdonk  anchored the innings making 43 with solid middle order contributions around him pushing the final total to a defendable 7-159.

Kwinana kept their foot on Armadale’s throat after having them 2-0 in the first over and bowled them out for 143 with Bevan Kearney claiming 3-40.

Congratulations to Kurt Verdonk who was selected in the SMCA representative squad who had a narrow loss in the final of the Cricket West Cup at the WACA on Sunday against Suburban Turf.

One-Day Gs Captain Peter Geere dominated against Armadale with his second century of the season as they chased down 131 after putting Armadale into bat.

Paul Webb was the best of the bowlers taking 3-30.

Geere retired on 101 which included seven fours and eight sixes and saw Kwinana end the match on 7-199 recording a big win to keep them in the top four and within one win of the league leaders.

4th Grade were asked to bat first by Jandakot.

They made a solid start before Darcy Middleton hit 55 to help Kwinana finish the innings on 8-160.

The bowlers couldn’t get going as the batsmen dominate seeing Jandakot ease past Kwinana’s total and finish the game on 6-231. 

One-Day Bs fielded first and started well having Leeming Spartan 6-90 before rapidly imploding due to a stunning innings of 159 n.o by Jordan Jupp.

Leeming ended the innings on 6-285.

Kieren Mellacheruvu bowled well taking 4-37.

Kwinana never got going with the bat despite a fast start from Cody Bingham (25) and were bowled out for 108.

Kwinana’s first Formula 15 match for 2019 against Roleystone / Karragullen was dominated by Mitchell Hind.

He made 42 with the bat in Kwinana’s total of 7-121 and then took 2-8 with the ball to restrict the opposition to 7-90.
