A fighting knock of 79 from 2nd Grade Captain Geoff Perera saw Kwinana send a scare through Jandakot Park’s dressing room as Phoenix outclassed One-Day Cs.
Kwinana came into day two against Jandakot at 5-39 and in a desperate position chasing 165 for victory, however, with Perera at the crease; there was still a chance.
He resumed his innings on 14 alongside Luke Collins (8) and made a steady start to the day.
Collins’ defiance ended with a leading edge and not long after Paul Schlinger’s desperate dive fell short in a disastrous runout.
With just the young tail to come, hope was fading.
Kwinana edged closer with Ali Gharibyar gritting his teeth and combining with Perera to put on 35 runs.
Perera tried to put the foot down pounding a six but hauled out the very next ball bringing Kwinana’s innings to an end on 128.
The day ended with batting practice for Jandakot as they went all out looking for extra points.
One-Day Cs were full of confidence coming into their home game against Phoenix after last weeks win.
After losing the toss, Kwinana was asked to bowl first and found it tough going.
Phoenix pounced on lose bowling as they posted 5-231.
Sean Mohan took two wickets.
Kwinana never got going with the bat despite 43 from Dallas Eparaima.
Kwinana was dismissed for 88 which included seven ducks.
