Geoff Perera and Peter Geere rescued 2nd Grade’s batting innings as Kwinana’s other grades suffered a disappointing weekend.
A young 2nd Grade team took to the field for the first two-day game of 2020 against Willetton and were asked to bat first after losing the toss.
It was a dire start at 5-36 before Perera (78) and Geere (46) combined for a hard-fought 96 run partnership.
Both would eventually fall trying to accelerate the innings but the tail eeked out a few runs to see Kwinana finish the day on 164.
Kwinana bowled six overs before the close of play with Willeton on 0-15.
A new look 4th Grade side had a horror day against Kardinya Lakes after batting first at Orelia Oval.
Captain Richard Bell led from the front with 17 as his team crumbled to be all out for 58.
Kardinya Lakes made light work of the total and head into day two 3-130.
Kwinana will be hoping to avoid an outright defeat.
One-Day Cs put a handy total on the board against Leeming thanks to 49 from Scott Weldon and 38 n.o. from Scott Benjamin.
The tail provided some late runs as the innings finished with Kwinana on 6-145.
An early runout had Kwinana on top, but the bowlers couldn’t find any control as Leeming cruised to victory with a total of 3-228.
Jason Williams took 1-36.
